WHAT'S LIFE ABOUT?

What is the meaning of life?  Where did I come from?  Why am I here?  Where am I going?

Everyone asks these questions at least once in their lifetime.  We believe that God has the answers to these questions and has revealed them in the Bible.

Who is Jesus Christ and where does he fit into all this?  What did Jesus do for us?  What is Christianity all about?

THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS CHRIST

1. OUR PURPOSE - RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

Genesis 1:26-28
Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness"... So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Acts 17:26-27
And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel their way toward him and find him.  Yet he is actually not far from each one of us.

 

 

2. THE PROBLEM - SIN

Romans 5:12
Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned.

Romans 3:23
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death.

 

 

 

3. HUMAN ATTEMPTS FOR A SOLUTION

Romans 3:20
For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight.

Eph. 2:8-9
For by grace you have been saved through faith.  And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

 

 

 

 

 

4. GOD'S SOLUTION - JESUS CHRIST

John 14:6
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

1 Peter 2:24
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness.  By his wounds you have been healed.

1 Peter 3:18
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.

 

5. MY RESPONSE

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 5:24
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
